Today, we come to the final message in Mark before we pause for the summer months and, then, pick it up again in the Fall season. This passage is the midpoint of this gospel. It’s what the entire story has been building to, and there is a seriousness in the tone and content of Jesus’ message. It’s as personal as personal can get. Why? Because it’s about your response to the gospel of Jesus Christ and, in that regard, there is no middle ground. It’s either everything or nothing! A bold statement – which is exactly what Jesus presents us with in his teaching here.
