As we continue our journey in the Gospel of Mark, during His final week, we’ll be looking at Mark 12:18-27. In the second of three traps laid out to catch Jesus, He is confronted by a new group not yet mentioned in Mark—the Sadducees. Since most of us know little about this group, their worldview helps us reflect on our own; and the issue they bring to Jesus just happens to be one He is most passionate about—life after death and the resurrection. His incredible response is not just a reminder of the importance of using Scripture to refute falsehood, but it also offers us deep encouragement in the hope of the resurrection, the comfort of the gospel, and the power of God.
