One of the most pervasive and dangerous issues that the scripture repeatedly address is spiritual blindness to the things of the Lord. We’re at a point in the book of Mark where, in order for the disciples, specifically Peter, to truly be able to confess him as the Christ, Jesus needs to expose spiritual blindness in all its ugliness. In the passage today, he does it through three connected events that provide us with an understanding of it. He issues a warning, a challenge, and an illustration to teach his disciples about it. In the process, he teaches us. May the Lord give us all sight to see as we watch Jesus at work this weekend.
