What are we to make of the incredible miracles that Jesus performed? What do they teach us about him and about us? Over and over, the gospel of Mark has been challenging us to evaluate Jesus and ask the question: Who do you say that I am? In this passage, we find ourselves confronted with two of Jesus’ greatest miracles: the feeding of the 5000 and his walking on the water. As we watch Jesus in action yet again, we are also confronted with the challenge of applying to our lives three questions: What’s the Kingdom priority of Jesus; What distractions cause us to miss it; and, How does his miraculous agenda reveal that he alone meets our deepest needs?
