From the early church until today, there were times when believers were disappointed and disillusioned by their circumstances due to unmet expectations of how they thought God’s Kingdom would unfold on Earth. We may expect mass revival, political success, or expect Jesus to return to make all things right, on our timing, rather than God’s timing. This is how the disciples of Jesus felt when his ministry faced significant opposition, and his teaching was met with general confusion. Jesus addressed this by reassuring his followers, through three parables, that he has a plan to shed the light of the Gospel to the whole world and that they can have confidence and courage that the growth of his Kingdom will not be stopped.
