We are all faced with conflicts to resolve, duties to perform, people who are counting on us, and endless responsibilities in our everyday lives. It can get overwhelming; and, oftentimes, we don’t know what to do or how to do it. Wise King Solomon was faced with his own people to lead, duties to perform, and endless decisions to make. When God asked what he needed to do the job, Solomon asked for wisdom. In the same way, what we need is God’s wisdom to know how to live and act in our world. We are all faced with the choice to either live according to the way of wisdom or live according to the way of folly. Solomon asking for wisdom is a template for our own path of wise living, but it’s ultimately through Solomon’s descendant, another Son of David, where true wisdom is found.
