The reality of life is that so many of our painful moments come from people issues. Although we’ve seen Jesus deal with religious enemies, we now move to see the incredible pressures he was dealing with that happen in the course of life – especially if you are a follower of Christ. The reality is that if the Kingdom of God is your priority, that means you are following Jesus. If you are following Jesus, you will be following him into challenging issues such as people pressure and expectations, misunderstanding and betrayal and, of course, the deep waters of addressing eternal realities. We need to see Jesus handle this so we can understand him more completely and follow him more faithfully.
