The Good Samaritan – Luke 10:25-37

Everybody knows the Good Samaritan – or we think we do. A guy gets hurt, a couple of religious people walk by, the unexpected guy stops – and the takeaway is, basically – don’t be a jerk! Fair enough. But what if Jesus is doing something sharper than that? What if this story is not just about the people we fail to help, but the excuses we use to feel fine while stepping around them? What if the lawyer’s question, “Who is my neighbour?” is really our question too. Where can love stop and still count? This Sunday, we’ll look at the parable we thought we knew and see why Jesus won’t let mercy stay theoretical. The lawyer wanted a boundary. Jesus handed him a mirror. The rest of us may find out we’ve been asking the same question.
