In the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, Jesus confronts the danger of a spirituality that trusts in itself while looking down on others. It is an invitation to lay down pride and receive God’s mercy with humility. We will discover that when we approach God in humble confession, we can receive his justifying mercy by faith, and confidently stand in Christ.
