Moses was living the Ancient Egyptian dream. The adopted son of a princess, and educated in all the wisdom of the ancient world, Moses had access to all the pleasure and treasure that the world had to offer. He could live a long life of ease and leisure, taking advantage of his power and privilege, but instead he gives it all up. Moses’ faith in God gives him a secure identity, a glorious purpose, and an eternal promise beyond Egypt. Moses reminds us how we can overcome the pressure, pleasure, and treasures of this world by faith in Christ, leaving ‘Egypt’ for something greater.
