The Invitation You Can Miss – Luke 14:12-24

Did you know you can be close to the things of God, know all the right words, believe all the right things, and still miss the invitation? That’s the unsettling edge in one of Jesus’ sharpest parables, often called “The Great Banquet”. Nobody slams the door. Nobody declares war on God. They’ve just got a field to check, some work to finish, or a life already in motion. These are all reasonable things. Good things. So the question is this: When does “not now” quietly become “no”? And what if the opposite is true, and you’re convinced the invitation could never be for someone like you? Jesus says the banquet is ready! The question is whether we’ll come. What a great passage as we partake of communion together this weekend.
