It’s one thing to know God can use a trial. It’s another thing to be in the middle of one and have no idea what faithfulness is supposed to look like now. James knows that gap. In James 1:5-8, he turns from perseverance to wisdom; not because he’s changing subjects, but because trials have a way of showing us how quickly we run out of answers. We’re trying to dig into some real stuff here, like: what do you do when you don’t understand what God is doing? What do you do when you’re not sure what the next step is? This passage is both the encouragement and challenge we need each day.
